The manufacturing process of RSiC typically involves shaping green bodies from finely powdered silicon carbide and firing them at temperatures approaching 2500°C. During firing, the grains of silicon carbide grow and fuse together, creating a strong, porous network. Unlike reaction-bonded or sintered varieties, RSiC does not require additives such as alumina or silica, which can compromise thermal and chemical performance.
